What CueNorm does
- Convert
- All formats go through one internal model, so each new format works with every other one. The formats available depend on the plan, see below.
- Validate
- Every rule comes from a destination profile: line length, number of lines, reading speed, duration, minimum gap, forbidden characters, required metadata. Each issue is reported with a stable code and a documentation page.
- Conform
- When a file needs adjusting, you ask for it. Reflowing lines, enforcing the minimum gap, applying a timecode offset or a frame-rate change are explicit steps, never silent.
- Deliver
- Several versions of one source for several destinations, in a single operation. Each output is re-read and re-validated before it is published.
- Trace
- Every source is kept as an immutable revision. Every output records the profile, its version and its hash, the engine version and the validation report: you can show which rules a file was judged against, and regenerate it identically.
Destination profiles
Profiles are YAML files, not code. They cover streaming platforms and broadcasters (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple, the BBC, ARTE, France Télévisions, TF1…), and each one cites its sources and a verification status.
They are built from publicly available specifications and are not endorsed by the platforms they describe. With the Cloud plan, you will also be able to write private profiles for your own clients' requirements.
Two plans
- Public validator
- Online, free, no account, nothing is kept. You drop an SRT, ASS, EBU-STL, TTML or WebVTT file and check it against a destination profile. Each issue points to the rule concerned.

- CueNorm Cloud — coming soon
- Conversion to EBU-STL, EBU-TT, EBU-TT-D, IMSC, iTT, SMPTE-TT, TTML, WebVTT and SRT. Multi-destination delivery, team workspaces, private profiles, an API with webhooks, usage tracking and an audit log. Data is hosted in Germany.
- Ask for early access
Principles
- Deterministic
- The same file and profile always give the same result, to the byte.
- Validation reports, it does not fix
- Corrections are explicit and recorded.
- Exact timing
- Times are stored as exact fractions, with no drift between frame rates.
- No AI deciding conformance
- Rules are checked by code you can read and test.
