The problem
Keywording thousands of photos is slow, repetitive and inconsistent from one day to the next: singular or plural, synonyms, level of detail. Generic AI tools suggest vague keywords outside the photographer's own vocabulary, and take control of the work away.
What narrative.photo does
For each photo: a title, a description, keywords (hierarchical if you want them) and warnings, in the language you choose.
- You keep control
- The AI suggests, you decide: every term can be reviewed, accepted, preferred or blocked. Nothing is written or exported without your approval.
- Your vocabulary first
- The service builds on your own keyword library (TXT or CSV import, preferred words, banned words) to keep the catalogue consistent.
- Writing styles
- Standard, naturalist, contemplative, humorous, stock: the style steers vocabulary and level of precision.
- Your choice of AI model
- More than twenty models from several providers. The cost in credits is known before you run, and you can switch model at any time.
- Your data stays yours
- Open formats (XMP, IPTC, CSV, JSON), no lock-in: the work lives in your files.
- Export to stock agencies
- Ready-to-upload CSVs for Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Getty/iStock, Alamy and Dreamstime, with each agency's rules checked before the file is generated.
Three ways to work
Same account, same credits, same models. An API is also available for automation.
- On the website
- Nothing to install. You upload JPG, PNG or WebP files, up to 50 per upload, then export as CSV, JSON or XMP.
- Desktop app
- macOS, Windows and Linux. You pick a folder (JPEG, TIFF, DNG, RAW) and the metadata is written into your files, as XMP and IPTC. For RAW files, a .xmp sidecar sits next to the original, which is never modified.
- Lightroom Classic plugin
- It works on the catalogue selection and writes the title, caption and hierarchical keywords straight into Lightroom.
Your photos and your data
- No generated images
- The service creates or retouches nothing: it only produces metadata.
- The original is never sent to the AI
- Only a resized copy is analysed. The original is deleted as soon as processing ends, and the resized copy is kept for 48 hours at most; only a small thumbnail, without EXIF or GPS, remains.
- No training on your photos
- This is the commitment of the model providers, under their API terms.
- No ads, no trackers
- No ads, no trackers. GPS coordinates are sent to the model only if you turn the option on.
Hosting, storage, payments and email run through European providers. Only the AI model you choose can sit outside the EU; with Mistral, the chain stays European.
Credits
You buy credits in packs, with no mandatory subscription. The cost of a photo depends only on the model you choose. Credits are reserved before the analysis and consumed afterwards: you only pay for successful analyses, and a failure releases the credits.
